The Interesting Full Color Candy Chair

The collaboration of those two technologies creates beautiful and eco-friendly chair.

In 2010, Merel Karhof created windmill power knitter, equipped with turbine rotor blades which has more than 1 meter size. The windmill power knitter later is known as “Wild Knitting Factory”. This Wild Knitting Factory can do knitting activities faster than windy environment. In a wind-controlled area and the wind speed is fair enough, the results f the knitting process is well controlled.

The first trial of the windmill power knitter was for making a scarf. When the machine got developed, the production was getting better and it increases the product result or cushion and the seat of this beautiful chair.

In a show held last week, (12-19th of May 2013, Karhof shows his furniture masterpiece “Windworks” in the Holland typical of windmill area in a typical windmill production of Holland, The Zaanse Schaans. This guy combined the “Het Jonge Schapp” windmill and the “de kat” local windmill as a coloring grinder.

At first, Karhof makes several appliances frameworks by using electrical – energized by windmill – saw. These appliances then moved into coloring windmill and colored with natural paint. In the coloring process, Karhof’s factory will knit the yarn. The result is, chairs and several chair cushions number depends on the time needed of the wind to make them. Last,  karhof applies a system which makes the windmill in his factory turn back from high speed wind.
