The wood utilization matches with the tropical climate which is hot and humid. Wood gives the house solidity and strength in a long period for some parts such as door, window, and even some household furniture. Well, despite of the positive things from this wooden material, it has weakness, too, especially when it is placed in a house of flooding area. Wooden material won’t handle the flood water very well so that the wood can be broken or expand, so that when it is dried after the flood, the wooden material can be dilapidated or damaged.
One of the types of wooden material, the solid one, won’t has a big problem in facing the flood, since it is easily fixed after being drowned by flood water, but, some other wooden material types such as MDF or triplex wouldn’t survive from the permanent damage caused by flood water.

After the flood is over, we can use the brush and clean water to dispel the mud. After that, we can put the wooden furniture until it is dry but it is better to avoid the direct sunlight because the sunlight can cause the furniture bend. We can use hairdryer to help the drying get faster.
If we have furniture which has drawer and hard to be opened after the flood, don’t push it to be opened. The drawer is expanded because of the flood water. We can clean it from the mud and dry it up first and then try to open the drawer and the door after it is getting dried.
